For those of you who would like a template to guide your unit planning, I am attaching a few here. The first one incorporates the required differentiation piece. *Differentiation must still be documented weekly. If choosing a different template than the first one, just add the differentiation template to your plans in your portfolio. Check out the new calendar page - I've scheduled time on Monday, 10/17 to work on setting up unit plans. If you can't make it and need help, just let me know!

The button below will take you to an article that discusses lesson planning by unit. It is short, informative and has a link to a great checklist/menu of potential Unit elements. I have already been approached with some great examples of Unit templates that I will be sharing shortly and am excited that you have the opportunity to individualize your plans. Please collaborate with your team members - you are your best resource!
Please take a moment to read the article and comment here with your thoughts and ideas. (Your comments will take the place of a staff meeting, so please don't forget!) If you have template ideas that you would like to share, please send them to me. Criteria that should be included:
I will also post this under DATES to KNOW for future reference and easy access.

New Lesson Plan format... Basically, the same format as last year with a couple of tweaks...Please download and use this lesson plan this year. All faculty should be using the same format.
MCHS teachers have accessed, analyzed and used SLDS data 29,342 times this year to help our students be as successful as possible! Thank you for everything you do!! The font is a little small, but you can click on it if you have eyes like mine:)
I apologize, Mr. Hamilton! You have 948 - thank you!
How many of you have heard a student say "I can't learn this" or "I'm just not good at math (or any other subject)"? Many of our students are stuck in a "Fixed Mindset" and just give up, not understanding that with effort they can learn! A student's mindset has a direct impact on their success, in school and in future endeavors.
Below is a powerpoint highlighting the differences between fixed and growth mindsets. It would be interesting to see where your own mindset is...what effect do our words have on our students' mindset? I also found a quiz that the students can take and put in their Interactive Notebooks if they have one. It would be a great Week 1 activity for next year. In lieu of a professional learning day, I would appreciate seeing your comments about the powerpoint and/or quiz on here. There may be a drawing for a "Sweet" surprise for those that participate:) It is now possible to view 2014-2015 Milestones data for your current students in SLDS! When you login, you should be able to click on one of your classes and find Milestones data from last year. You can dig all the way down to the domain to get information on your students' achievement. I have come across some instances where only data from 2013-2014 is available and have passed that information on so hopefully everything will be released from the state soon.
Please view the Powerpoint below and sign off in the Media Center when completed. The deadline for signing off is this Friday. Thank you!
What are SGP's? If you'd like a quick review, the button below will take you to a short video that explains the Student Growth Percentiles. You could even share with your students!
