Students missing less than 5 day is looking great so far. Hopefully we will all continue to be healthy for the remainder of the year.
Wonder what's up with faculty attendance? I thought the emerald tickets would help. Oh well...
I wish there was a better way to keep sickness out of the school.
Remember these kids share: drinks, food, lip balm, coughs, sneezes, etc.
Discipline is up for this November compared to last November. But we do have more students this year.
Student attendance is looking better. Hope you all have peaceful next few days before the break :)
Do the certified absences include days taken WITH emerald tickets?
Do they count Professional Days too?
Good question, Will. I'll check on it.
Mrs. Jack said Emerald Ticket days are NOT included in the count.
It takes 6 emerald tickets to gain that precious day off. I wonder how many have been used.
I'm pretty sure there is a link between certified absences and discipline issues. I know my kids tend to lose their mind when I'm out. Hoping for a healthy 2016!
It is disappointing to see the rise in discipline, but as was mentioned in an earlier post...these 9th graders are a lot BOLDER than the last previous years. It could also be due to the STEM closing.
I think some of the kids we would have had at the STEM who are here now are contributing to some of the increase in (1) number of kids, (2) attendance issues, and (3) discipline referrals.
I have been calling so many parents about grades and attendance I expect to be on Christmas card status with a few of them.
Awesome - perhaps they'll send gifts as well:)
I'm sure the rise in discipline referrals is due to the rise in student number in combination with the STEM closing. I am looking forward to the Christmas assembly this year. I hope the illness stays away and we can actually have it as scheduled this year!
Maybe we won't have another flu outbreak like last year and attendance will be a little better in December and January. Happy Holidays folks!
I noticed the increase in faculty absences. I am also curious to know if that includes absences WITH Emerald tickets.
Emerald Ticket days are NOT included!
I think it would be safe to say that the increase in numbers and the STEM closing has been reasons that discipline has increased. Looking forward to the Christmas Party.
Hate to see how high the certified attendance has been! I feel that the students missing more than 5 days continues to be the same couple students continuing to miss days.
Student absences improving
I'm glad to see that students missing more than 5 days has decreased. I'm also looking forward to the faculty Christmas party. We always have a great time!
Thanks for giving the page of dates and activities!!
6 more school days until holiday break.
I think I can... I think I can...
I had a funny gag gift to bring to the faculty party, so I'm bummed that we're not doing gifts. Maybe I'll give it to my grandma & stir things up a bit at our family gathering!
Just make sure that Brett gets his 'special' gift this year.
I am excited to find out what the faculty will be doing for the Christmas assembly! It is always a fun day for the faculty and students!
Wow, faculty absences are still up. Better than October, though:/ I had the same question as Will & Jennifer: how do the Emerald Tickets factor in & Professional leave days?
I agree w/Joel about the STEM connection with regard to discipline; some of those kids seem to actively seek ways to get a referral sometimes.
I hope we get to have an assembly on the half day. Glad to have a date for the eighth grade visitation!
Need to have subs. Teacher attendance is not good but sometimes can not be helped. Too many teachers giving up planning time to cover classes. I would rather have subs than tickets!! Maybe our CO will help us out soon!!!
I agree! Planning time is precious.
Subs would be nice, but if it saves teacher jobs............
Of course, we do such a wonderful job without the luxury of subs, I doubt we will ever get them back. :)
Great news about student absences!
Thanks for the list of the events-really looking forward to the assembly!!
Please do not blindfold Coach Dotson at the assembly this year ... welllll, on second thought ... also, I have thought about that STEM connection with regards to discipline and there may be something to that; it's like breaking a wild horse with some of these freshmen. Lastly, an Ebay sister company, emeraldticket.com, will hopefully be up and running soon ...
Looking forward to the assembly. Merry Christmas everyone!
I am glad to see the improvement of the student absences, and I know I'm not the only one looking forward to the holidays! We can do it...one more week!
Can't wait for the holidays!!!
Really looking forward to the holiday assembly! I believe our students are too!! :) Merry Christmas everyone!
student absences look great, but I know there have been a lot of students out. wonder where the downfall is?
Glad to see improvement in student absences!
Student attendance is improved and that is good. I agree that the discipline being up may be due to the STEM closing, and having more students this year.
Looks like there is an indirect variation in teacher absences and student absences. Wonder what conclusion can be drawn?
Good to see our student absences down.
If the weather would decide would decide if it is spring or winter, I think that might help with the certified absences. :-)
It was nice to see that students missing more than 5 days has gone down since last year!
Baseball tryouts just 36 days away!
We need to keep in mind that we have had faculty members out with surgery, family deaths and sick children.
I also believe the STEM closing has a negative impact on our discipline numbers.
It's been a pretty great semester thus far. I hope my freshmen get in gear in January. We are Milestone focused until May!! I have some kids with 15+ absences.
I hate that we have had kids miss so many instructional days. Merry Christmas everyone.
And, it is always the same kids.....at least in my case. There is a correlation with their grades as well.
So ready for a new year! Hopefully discipline and absences will both be down for 2016!
Merry Christmas everyone.
