So far disciplinary problems are on track to beat out the last 2 years. We are making Murray High a safer and more enjoyable high school experience for students and teachers.

I agree with Josh. As far as staff absences go, I hope we don't repeat the last couple of years this March! Hopefully, we will have a healthier year this year!

I couldn't believe the students missing more than 5 days in November. I guess the flu could be to blame? That is just a high percentage for our students to have that many absences. By the way, Love the snow picture!

Yes. There has been a lot of sickness this season so far. I have had quite a few students out more than 5 days.

The flu seems to be catching many of them with multiple absences in a week. My classes are missing several students each period.

My classes looked fairly empty by Friday last week due to the various pathogens going around. Then there was a gaping hole in my room yesterday......

The Economics Milestone is December 16th which is next Tuesday. Encourage seniors to be here everyday for review, it will really help them.

It looks like, from the bar graphs, that there is a correlation between certified absences and discipline issues - when there is a spike in certified absences the discipline issues go up? Also, it seems that Education is similar to law enforcement (LE) as it relates to seasons ... calls-for-service dropped in the Winter, but I always anticipated a spike in "activity" when the seasons changed from Winter to Spring. We did a good job in May with certified absences, and very few discipline issues!

Good to see certified absences down a little, I guess we are feeling better. Great to see so few discipline referrals.

I felt that some of the student absence data was a little concerning. I will continue to encourage my seniors (and freshman who need a reminder!)to be present every day.

I agree Whitney! I feel that as we get more into the school year, the students care less about coming to school. Especially close to the holidays!

The student absences, as well as the staff absences have really been high. However, I do hope the holidays will allow for everyone to get some much needed rest in order to get better.

Students missing more than five days has me concerned. I hope the Holiday break will give them time to relax/unwind and get the attendance back on track in January.

I would mail "Season's Greetings" progress reports with attendance highlighted for failing/high attendance students over the Christmas break. It would also help to mention the Georgia laws regarding school attendance and driving permits to classes.

The decrease in discipline referrals is a true reflection of the great faculty we have at MCHS! The mutual respect between you and our students is evident when I am in your classrooms, and it is evident you are building strong relationships with our students. You are patient with our students yet you still hold them to a high level of expectation. Thank you!

Just to clarify: the student attendance is cumulative and not just monthly like the other data. Student attendance for CCRPI for 2015 will be based on the total percentage of students missing more than five days of school for the year--both unexcused AND excused. Please remember to call parents for students who are missing your class and encourage students to be here!

The absences for students and staff have definitely been a major concern. It does seem like we've all had a very rough start to the year (although it's mid-year already...). Here's hoping the 2015 portion will see less illnesses, losses, etc. I am pleasantly surprised to see the discipline referrals down; and I, like Jeff & Scott, wonder if there is a connection between staff absences and referral.

Great job with discipline! When I was a student here, there were fights every week. The climate of our school has changed drastically and I am so proud of what our school has become. Very happy to be back and working with an awesome group of folks. Hopefully everyone can avoid this flu and stay well!
