HAPPY HALLOWEEN! I thought the pet video was funny :) According to your survey results, the majority of you wanted professional learning to take place during department meetings. Integrating technology in the classroom received several votes as a topic to cover during PL. Soooo...below are the dates for professional learning focused on technology. ESS, Social Studies, & PE can choose any of the days listed below to attend. It is mandatory everyone attend.
LESSON PLANS - The new template has arrived. You will notice some minor changes to all the templates. The Differentiation & Needs Based templates are attached to the main template as pages 2 & 3. For next week's plans you can use the new template or the one you have been using this year. We will give a brief overview of the new template sometime next week. After next week, everyone will use the new template.

CTAE, FA/FL your NetTrekker accounts should now be working. Your info. is below:
Let me know if you find any useful resources! It's Benchmark Week - please give BM1 by the end of this Friday, 10/31. All tests have been uploaded to Achievement Series. You are going to introduce the Multi-Flow Map tomorrow, 10/28 during 2nd period. I have attached all of the Map Memos in the file below - in case you like the layout of them better than the other reference sheets. There is also a Map Memo on the Frame of Reference - it is a hard concept for some of the students to grasp. Please integrate the information from it into tomorrow's roll-out.
MCHS has subscription to NetTrekker. It is an easy-to-use search engine designed for teachers and students to find quality educational websites. It saves time and effort for teachers looking for instructional resources. It has resources for academics, fine arts, CTAE, & foreign language.
My NetTrekker team is: Brittney Adams, Marco Burgueno, Will Queen, & Zach Talley. They will be training the academic departments. Fine arts/foreign language/CTAE, please browse the site and let me know if you would like additional information. I don't want to take up your time if there aren't a lot of resources for you department. You can search by standard, grade, image, etc. NetTrekker has a lot to offer. Like in TRL, you can also rate the resources. I have placed a quick link button on the homepage of my website. Let me know what you think! REMINDER:
The GA Milestone EOC Assessment Guides are now available. The GA Milestone Assessment Guides give you the following information:
Below is an overview of the types of questions for each subject: Coordinate Algebra - Multiple Choice & 3 constructed response Analytic Geometry - Multiple Choice & 3 constructed response 9th Lit. - Multiple Choice, 3 constructed response, & 1 extended response 11th Lit. - Multiple Choice, 3 constructed response, & 1 extended response Biology, Physical Science, US History, & Economics - Multiple choice with content distributed throughout the ELA & Math GA Milestones Below are links to the GA Milestone Assessment Guides. The links will also be under the tab "Helpful Websites" I know how stressful it can be wondering if you are going to get observed. Some things you probably think: It never seems to be on your best day, what are they looking for, why do they have to come to my room, how long are they going to stay, I hate this ;) Some GOOD NEWS - you are already doing what you need to do! They are the same things that are looked for during TKES walkthroughs and observations - it's what happens in a Standards-Based Classroom. Without further ado....Below is the checklist the Central Office uses when they visit schools/classrooms. I hope seeing this will help ease some of the anxiety a visit creates. Don't panic! You can't have perfection everyday. If you follow the "recipe" to the best of your ability, you will have a good lesson :) These things will not always happen in one lesson - they will glance at your teacher portfolio. I have had to disrupt and ask for portfolios. For the sake of minimizing disruption, make sure your portfolio is by the door and visible. If you have questions or concerns, let me know and I can help you!
Some of you have mentioned that you didn't have any class rosters in the TKES portal to verify. I just found out that you will not have to go through the same tedious process as you did last year. All you have to do is click accept! Email and let me know.
It's time for the 1st of the 2 TKES Roster Verifications. You must email and let me know you completed Roster Verification #1 by Friday, Oct. 24. If you do not email, your name will be on the non-complete list.
Login to the TKES portal and verify your class rosters. The verification requirement assures that each of your class rosters are correct and students are not added or missing. To find the Roster Verification tab, click on Teacher Keys Effectiveness System tab. (It's the same tab that you clicked on for the pre-evaluation conference) You will see the page below: Click on Roster Verification - October FTE, verify your rosters & make sure you sign-off that you completed the process. Remember - Sometimes the Accept button for sign-off is at the bottom of the page - scroll down Make your comments about the "Faculty Focus" power point on this titled section of the website. You can comment about something you noticed in regards to the attendance/discipline data - reply and comment about a post from another teacher - you can comment about anything on the power point.
Mrs. Linder will be sharing MCHS data with you by emailing the "Faculty Focus" power points. By communicating and sharing through email and website, we meet less & you have more time! Make sure you comment by next Wed., 10/22. Below is a link to various Thinking Map templates for ELA. They are appropriate for resource/inclusion students, but can be modified for regular ed. The link will also be available under the "Useful Handouts" tab.
Ms. Ingle will be emailing instructions on how to set up your classes on the Scholastic Reading Inventory website. Once your classes are set up, you will be able to print the reports listed to the left. The reports show valuable information in regards to student growth & proficiency of Lexile scores. All classes must be entered by next Friday, 10/24. It is very easy to do and the instructions are easy to follow. If you have difficulty with getting your classes set up, save your questions and bring them to the Media Center next Wednesday, 10/22 @ 3:15. Make sure that you handout the Parent/Teacher Compact & the Parent Involvement Plan during advisement today. Senior advisers - you will not have to hand this info. out to your students. Please place any of the signed documents in my mailbox or bring them to me.
