As you know, Richard Woods has been elected as GA's new Superintendent. I'm sure that many of you are already aware of his policy positions, but just in case.... REMINDER: All BM2s need to be given and scanned by the end of the day tomorrow.

I am very unclear about the meaning in the policy statement "Agreement with Governor and State BOE that our Science and Social Studies standards must be Georgia-owned and Georgia-grown"; does this mean that the science and social studies curricula should be responsive to the interpretations which are popular with whichever group has more political pull at the moment?

Mike...I think it is in reference to the common core - He wants to maintain using the Common Core standards for ELA & Math, but adopt new "Georgia created" standards for science & social studies. Not sure who would create those ??

I like his idea of wanting to expand core credits toward graduation with such classes as financial literacy and other Career, Tech and Agriculture courses.

I like a lot of his goals. I am impressed with the foundational section and trying to identify literacy deficiencies early and get those students the assistance they need in the lower grades.
