As I've been looking over lesson plans this week, I thought perhaps would be a good time to re-post the lesson plan format as well as some useful information regarding some of the elements of the plan. Remember, plans are due on Mondays for that week and should be complete with at least one differentiation noted for the week. In all honesty, you are probably differentiating every day and just do not realize it! You will find the Lesson Plan format to use this year at the bottom of the page under the Useful Handouts tab. Some of you have a landscaped template that is fine to use as well. Just make sure that the differentiation part is included with the template you choose to use. All sections of the plan are to be completely filled out. Each plan should include Standards (State and WIDA), EQ's for each day, Vocabulary that will be introduced that week, and a Literacy Integration method (there are lots of ideas in the dropdown box). Activating Strategies - In the "activating strategy" portion of the document, note HOW --you are activating. What strategy are you using to prepare students for the lesson? Click the button below for some great ideas on different strategies that can be used at the beginning of your class. Body of Instruction - This section is for what you are doing, not the students. How is the lesson being taught? Formative Assessment - How are you checking for understanding? There are many short, simple ways to do this. Click below to find some new ideas to incorporate formative assessments into your lessons every day. Summarizing Activity- What can you do to briefly summarize what your students learned that day? What do you want your students to take away from the lesson? Summative Assessment - will not be every day - unit tests, benchmarks, projects, performance tasks, etc. Differentiation - should be included at least once during the week. That form is also under the Useful Handouts tab. I hope this is helpful information. And for those struggling with planning, discuss it during your dept. meetings and check with your peers. I have seen some great examples of lesson plans. I will be adding pictures of some of those soon for each subject area. You are the experts, so "steal" from each other! :-)
**Please add a comment to this post as documentation that everyone has seen the information and knows where to go to find the lesson plan forms.
