I hate to see that student attendance is so bad, it is the same students all the time.

I will be curious to see what the discipline referrals will look like for February because several of my students have been in ISS. On a positive note, several of my students were featured in the video and have commented on watching/being in the video.

Cinema Drive is a presentation on safe driving decisions. It is interactive with virtual reality goggles so they can truly feel the consequences of bad decisions in a vehicle.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't understand the 2 student attendance slides. Is the first slide a percentage? If so, shouldn't the numbers match the next slide?

Student Attendance is a major concern-- we need to figure out why students are perfectly fine with missing as much school as they do and how can we get them to change their mind and WANT to come to school....

I agree, Plemons! There is no way to hold them accountable for absences. We need to find an incentive or solution.

The attendance is very concerning. Several students miss school very often. As far as testing, it's also concerning to see the differences between students taking honors courses and those not when it comes to attendance and commitment to learning. I know that more self motivated students take honors courses even if they are gifted but what can be done to get more students excited about learning again?

Rigor...I do think the rigor is increasing school-wide. As Brittney said, this is a step in the right direction. I hope the questioning book will help me in this area. I am glad the benchmarks are becoming more important. I really do think the benchmarks will help to prepare our students for the Milestone.

I don't like the fact that our faculty has missed so many days. I understand that we all get sick and need a break, but at the same time if we expect them to be here, we do to.

Attendance is a huge issue this year, and that is coming from a new teacher. It is obvious that students are missing too much school, and it is even happening on my baseball team! Any given day, there is a student failing to come to practice for one reason or another. I know some students are legitimately ill, but I have a hard time believing that sickness would account for this many absences. Even when I remind students of the accumulating absences, there seems to be no change.

I agree about the SRI scores. Great job incorporating literacy into your class! I have seen many examples of text analysis in non-EOC classes this year. This increased focus is bound to have an effect on our literacy rates.

We can't teach students who don't come to school. Attendance is the biggest issue we face. We've got to have some type of enforceable attendance rules and consequences that the local and state boards will back us on!

Stemming from Natalie's comment, attendance is an issue. I think though that we will see results with the conferencing that we have been doing with attendance advisements as well as the incentives we are implementing. I am hoping we can make students more aware of how important attendance is in regards to their education.
