It's good to see that the SRI scores have continued to improve.
Good to see our goal of <400 absences is still attainable
I know we as teachers have crazy lives, kids, and other factors, but I don't understand why our absences are that high as a faculty... I think if the students know it is ok for us to be absent, that is why they are absent as well.
I believe our attendance correlates to their behavior issues including tardiness and videos and games in class.
Maybe the students are taking the lexile tests more seriously.
Hopefully, Lexiles will rise even more!!
Great job on the lexile test! It's great seeing those scores improve!
I see more of the same students being tardy.
Happy to see Lexile scores rising. Like the pay it forward idea.
Great news on Lexile! I think emphasizing literacy in each content is helping!
SRI numbers are encouraging.
Attendance for staff and students is not doing so well. We have had a couple of rounds of flu/viruses though and some medical issues causing people to miss.
Student absences for March will be even higher than February--at least for my students. It is very frustrating.
I recently sent a list of names of students who are habitually tardy and/or absent to Andrea Morrow. I want to give her a 'shout out' because she has met with all of them. Some have been in ISS for tardies/absences since then. They ALL know that they will have to meet with her and that she will follow up every time they are late and/or tardy!
Glad to see those SRI/Lexiles numbers going up!
Any connection between increase in student absences and rise in SRI scores....
I think that student absences will increase as it gets warmer and we approach May.
I'm sure you're right. I've already had a few students talking about laying out to go fishing or other outdoor things.
I agree with Natalie... GREAT job Ms. Morrow!
Our rigor is increasing, and I feel certain our Milestone scores will reflect this.
I agree with Bruce, as well. Thank you Morrow for helping teachers encourage students to attend school and be punctual!
Great job on Lexiles everyone! Very happy to see a strong push for literacy throughout our school.
It is good to see the SRI scores increasing before testing.
Glad to see the increase in Lexile scores, I think they more accurately indicate student reading levels now. Some students didn't take it seriously at first.
I love seeing the rise in the SRI scores!
Student attendance is frustrating, especially when students miss days without excuses and want to have the opportunity to make-up all missed assignments. Not fair to the students that show up every day and only miss when they have an actual excuse.
It is so good to see that teacher's attendance goal is still attainable; especially with all the absences I have accrued.
I think the emphasis on literacy is truly responsible for the rise in the lexile scores.
Attendance has become an issue for my students and tardies as well.
SRI looks better. Although as a math teacher, I usually can't spell SRI.
Its good to see discipline referrals down from this time last year, after the spike earlier in the year. Hopefully our efforts to use PBIS are working.
I like the "Myths" about increased rigor.
I am accepting any and all advice on bell to bell instruction. Some days are great, while other days I find it extremely difficult to keep them focused. They are more interested in the weather outside.
Student absences are very frustrating especially when they want to know "If they missed anything while they were out!". It is the same ones all of the time.
I agree that the focus on rigor should increase. I have heard those exact myths in some shape form or fashion from people on the street, students and teachers at all levels and in all systems. Having expectations of performance and sticking to them is the definition of rigor. I always provide assistance to students who need that boost to understand--scaffolding doesn't diminish rigor, it just increases performance on standards.
SRI scores help math, too! Glad to see them increasing
SRI scores are going up great job everyone.
I am glad to see our SRI scores are improving. Thank you Mrs. Ingle for making the library a fun place to hang out and read!
I agree totally, Mr. Talley. It is the end result we are concerned about. If it takes a student several tries to master a skill, we should not punish them for not getting it the first time. "Did they get it by the time they left my class this year?" is the question. Never be afraid to replace a grade if the student is actually trying and finally gets it!
It always seems odd to me when I am checking lexile scores on IC and they go down from one time to the next. It makes me wonder about just how valid any of these tests really are. There so many external factors that affects a child's performance
The Lexile and SRI scores are great, however attendance is horrible!
Awesome news on Lexiles. Hopefully Spring Fling will help with attendance next year once they see what it's all about!
Absenteeism and tardies are a big issue in my class.
I wish students took absenteeism as serious as we do, they are in for a shock in the workforce.
The SRI score increases are very promising.
It is a shame about teacher absences, but this whole area has been hammered with respiratory and digestive issues over the past two months. Hospitals have been sending patients elsewhere.
On a positive note, the media center is absolutely amazing. Brittany has done a wonderful job making it meaningful and relevant, not only with the physical aspects, but the electronic and social media side as well!
Glad SRI scores are up.
I think that in order for our student attendance to increase, our faculty attendance has to increase.
It's good to see SRI scores going up. Now if absences would just go down.
Would like to see student attendance improve!
Thanks for the slide on rigor!
Let's keep focusing on rigor.
Would love to see attendance improve. Most students really don't realize how important it is for them to be here every day.
It seems the students have bought into some of the testing. Lexile shows it.
Sometimes, I think our students are very compartmentalized about the subjects we teach. Although I have always stressed art vocabulary, art history and artists biographies, they always complain that they should not have to read and write in art.
Great to see gains in sri scores!
