What a difference in the discipline referrals! This is such an accomplishment for our school. We really do have great kids here at MCHS.

I noticed this as well! I have also noticed an improvement in behavior of the 9th graders! Our students at MCHS are great!!

What kind of schedule will we be on for the Holiday Assembly in Feb? Could be a good idea to send out a "how to" for backing up hard drives!! I fear with all of the sickness we are going to miss our goals for attendance for staff and students : (

Anyone can get the flu I'm afraid. I had the flu shot and still got the flu.

You can definitely tell that the FLU hit hard in December. Everyone keep those hands washed and stay healthy. Attendance for students is looking good. I’m sure test scores will go up if students continue coming to school and not choose to miss days.

It's good to see discipline referrals down. Too bad about all the sickness, for students and teachers.

It can happen! Computer crashes is the last thing you want to happen. Mine crashed over the summer and luckily Suzan said that I had the FBI virus and restored it completely. Great job Suzan.

It was refreshing to see the exact date we make the exchanges for the half credit courses. I've been misleading my kids to think its after MLK day.

Not to poor-mouth our gains in discipline, but I'm thinking referrals might be down because of the flu hitting us so hard. I'm not sure if that's a sustainable strategy, though. ;-)

I agree Will, even though it is great the discipline is down- the absent rate this last month was crazy and probably a good reason why the discipline was down.

I was thinking the same thing. It is the higher month with absences vs. a lower month with discipline issues.

Good point about discipline and "flu" absences. Although, overall, my classes are much better discipline-wise this year. These upcoming Benchmark scores scare me due to the absences.

Are there specific days that you want us to give the BM on? Wasn't sure if all math classes were giving the BM on the same day, so that we don't overlap each other throughout classes and students are not taking 4 BM's in 1 day.... just wondering?

Once you've had the flu can you catch it again? Could we see another outbreak here at the school?

I think that you can get it again. You may not get the same strain as before. There is a girl at our church that had Flu B before Christmas and has Flu A now.

Yes you can catch a different strain. Lori was out before break with type A and has the flu this week so I am assuming she has type B now.

No party-poopin' here! I ran some numbers and extrapolated that even if the flu hadn't hit so hard and attendance was better, and we went to school the whole month of December, we would have only had 6 discipline referrals! Please don't inquire, I'm not a "numbers" guy.

I am curious as to what kind of impact absences will have on our overall score. If the CDC in Atlanta recognizes the issue, perhaps the state could put an asterisk or exemption next to this category.

The low rate of discipline referrals is a positive trend. I think that will continue as we do PBIS. I don't know if we can meet the attendance goal, everyone is getting sick and having to be absent

I have been teaching for many years and I have noticed that sometimes the students that I find the most challenging behavior wise have some of the best attendance. They would still rather be at school with us instead of home. This may not hold true for high school with cars and friends with cars. Just an observation.
