Listed below you will find the Enrollment Video and Word document (directions) that Ms. Morrow sent out in her email. Both are great resources and will make the process easy! Any questions can be addressed in the Faculty Meeting on Wednesday.
If you are interested in setting up your Interactive Notebook, I'll be in the Collab Lab today at 3:30. I'll be glad to help you get started.
I'm sure many of you have seen your students with their Math INB's, which were introduced and implemented in the Math classes at the beginning of the year.
Students are engaged in class, becoming more organized, and accountable for their learning! Basically, students are creating their own textbooks filled with what you deem important - vocabulary, notes, practice problems, Thinking Maps, etc! If you are interested in finding out more about them or how to use them in your class, let me know by commenting. I'd love to see MCHS using them in all content areas! If you have any questions, feel free to ask me or a Math teacher how they work. A great time to begin using them would be at the beginning of the semester - I could easily set up a workshop where you can get started right away. It is so simple!! It is now possible to view 2014-2015 Milestones data for your current students in SLDS! When you login, you should be able to click on one of your classes and find Milestones data from last year. You can dig all the way down to the domain to get information on your students' achievement. I have come across some instances where only data from 2013-2014 is available and have passed that information on so hopefully everything will be released from the state soon.
Please view the Powerpoint below and sign off in the Media Center when completed. The deadline for signing off is this Friday. Thank you!
A great way to incorporate student choice and higher-order thinking skills is to use a student contract where the student has an assignment based on choice. In this case, the student must demonstrate mastery of the standard (Assignment #5) through a choice of activities, one being student-created. This allows the students to have some degree of control over their method of learning and encourages autonomy. Also, a perfect way to differentiate! Thank you for sharing, Mr. Hensley. I know that all of you have activities and lessons that others would love to see - please send them to me so I can share the great things going on in the classrooms at MCHS! For anyone administering Benchmarks 1/19 - 1/22, please begin to look at your rosters and submit any changes needed by Wednesday, 1/13. When submitting the changes, make sure the following information is included:
