Coach Lusk used student Lexile scores to create the above seating chart for her 9th Lit. inclusion class.
I LOVE this chart because:
SMART Strategy - Chaos/Disruption is minimized because students don't have to move for partners/groups - Student frustration is minimized because a "high scoring" student is not doing all the work - Students feel more comfortable reading out loud with students who are closer to their reading level * Share how you group students using various types of data! * Academic teachers: I will be delivering your BM Item Analysis sheet toward the end of today.
Please review the proposed 2015-2016 calendar. Some things to notice:
Don't forget to share anything you know about education #hashtags you have used on Twitter! If you aren't on Twitter - give it a try!
Before Christmas break I started posting "Try Something New" - #1 focused on Differentiation and was posted on 12/5. Topic #2 focused on Incorporating Literacy-PALS & was posted on 12/15.
I am new to Twitter, but I am going to try it out after encouragement from Dr. Terry's blog, Mrs. Plemons, and several speakers at various conferences. I asked her to share some educational #hashtags with me so that I may pass them along to all of you. So...if you are not on Twitter, I encourage you to try it out and learn with me. If you are already on Twitter, share what you know :) If you use any of the hashtags included in the "Guide", please share, share, share!! Request to have Twitter unblocked and use it for educational #s & ideas for lessons! I'm a beginner - follow me on Twitter @AndreaMorrow78 As you know, Richard Woods has been elected as GA's new Superintendent. I'm sure that many of you are already aware of his policy positions, but just in case.... REMINDER: All BM2s need to be given and scanned by the end of the day tomorrow.
Pass the word to other teachers on your hallway Dr. Terry posted "Ideas for Document Cameras" on her technology blog. There are 66 ideas listed. Take a look and see if you can use any of them!
Share how you use your document camera!!
During our GOFAR meeting, I will also share with you your SLDS Growth Model. The Growth Model is for EOC teachers only. Mrs. Linder discussed Student Growth Percentiles (SGP) during a faculty meeting at the beginning of the year. Even if you currently do not have a course with an EOC, you still need to look so you can be familiar with the information. Below is some "reminder information" about Student Growth Percentiles: Please tell teachers in your department to visit my website, so they will know about the GOFAR meeting
MATH, SCIENCE, SOCIAL STUDIES, ENGLISH, & ESS teachers: On 12/18, I posted the below information about GOFAR: GOFAR (Georgia Online Formative Assessment Resource) has replaced OAS. As recommended by the state, we will start using GOFAR to help prepare students for the Milestones.
Between the dates of 1/15 - 1/22, every academic & ESS teacher is required to do one of the following:
REMINDER: All BM2 need to be given and scanned by next Tuesday, Jan. 20. In October, I posted the Milestone EOC "draft" Assessment Guides. Below are the final copies of the Assessment Guides, Formula Sheets, & Sample Answer Documents - I will also post them under the tab "Useful Handouts" so you can easily find them. Please make sure that you print a copy and use to help prepare students for the changes and increased rigor of the Milestone EOCs.
Murray County's Technology Instructional Specialist, Dr. Rachelle Terry has a "Technology Blog". I have mentioned it in a previous post, but did not attach the link. Below is the link - there is also a permanent link to the right side of the website.
